You can really adversely affect your hens health and greatly shorten their laying life by leaving the light on all the time. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. glad to have such a valuable resource at my fingertips.
ill update you all when i start getting eggs.
i have installed a ceramic non-light producing heater
and a light on a timer. this along with LAYENA crumbles and daily oats and whole corn
i hope to be having some winter layers :)

Well the day has arrived !
WE GOT OUR FIRST EGG !
all the hard work pays off. light on a timer giving them only 8 hours of darkness and a ceramic heater keeping them from getting too chilled. PVC pipe feeder and water-er. everything paid off and we have gotten 2 eggs now !!!! one yesterday and one today ! hopefully they will keep popping out !
