Just grain????

I was wondering, if i where just to give my chickens grain and let them out to forage a lot would that be enough protein to keep them nice, healthy, and happy? Just wondering and any input would be nice. thanks!

I have done just that and all was ok, but if you want eggs you will have to give them a calicum source, oyster shell, etc.
