My injured hen is healing and I take her out of my horse trailer once a day for a walk around the yard. We walked to the back yard where the other birds are in the cage and she full on goes after my tom in the cage. Jumping at the wire and the tom is equally agressive. I had to push her away from him and force her to head back towards the horse trailer.
What the heck am I going to do now? They were co-existing just fine before she got injured by the tom. She obviously has more healing to do and I think I'm going to have to take her to a vet just to have the little bit of extra skin that is drooping cut off, it didn't take but she seems no worse for wear at all. Although I think she could go back to the cage if I didn't have the tom. I'm sort of scared that if they do get back together at some point that he will catch on that droopy piece of skin some how and hurt her again.
*sigh* I really don't want to have to have two turkey cages. But it looks like I might have to. Oh well, I was going to make their cage bigger any way, I guess I will keep the small cage and build the bigger one I wanted.
