Just had a duck eat a mouse for the first time

So as we are building the new pen, all my ducks are inside.
The other day, my pig, Penelope, was standing in the doorway debating if she wanted to go outside or not. While doing that, a small mouse snuck in the house and we have been trying to catch it ever since.

My male, Nibbler, who has a bum leg and is in a pack and play with some straw and his good and water dish. Was minding his own business when the mouse climbed into his pack and play to look for straw and food. And he just hobbled it up, and flipped his head back like he was downing a shot of something, then casually took a drink of water to wash it down with

My daughter was vaguely traumatized by it

Yuck, but I guess it's no different than feeding them live small trout and large minnows.

Why aren't my ducks that cool?

What type of duck was that? I am having problems with shrews and keep catching them in traps but am hoping one of my ducks can be cool like Nibbler. I have two 10 week old Muscovies and the rest are Mallard and Rouens.

I'm not sure you want to encourage your ducks to eat shrews. They are a bit different than mice, look it up. Everytime my cat eats a shrew he promptly vomits the entire thing. I try to keep my cat from eating them.

Yes I wondered about that too as I know they are nasty critters. I guess I will keep trapping them and be glad they are not like Nibbler. Thanks

Shrews are venomous. That's most likely why.

He is a jumbo Pekin. He has a bum leg that sticks out to the side so he can’t really walk with it. Tried niacin but it just doesn’t get better. He’s an inside duck now. Mouse just wanted into his area
