just hatched, chick in trouble? please help!!

I just got home to find 2 of my 8 eggs have hatched into baby chicks but im very worried about one. The hatch hasnt taken longer than 8 hours. The chick appears to be wrapped in yolk with visible veins throughout? the belly button area is swollen (pea sized) and red, no fresh blood though.. and its SQUEALING! Is it okay or should i be doing something??

Also is it normal for them to shake and flap their wings? It looks like theyre cold but the temp is at 99. Heres a better shot of the wrapped chick.

That doesn't look like yolk. I think it's membrane.

Oh my gosh, that just made me SO happy! So you think its doing okay? Just dirty? And do they tremble a lot usually?

EGG GOO!! I'm with Gardener. Call it what you want, membrane, "umbilical cord" just outright goo... (one girl calls them egg boogers...lol) it's all ok. Usually they will dislodge it themselves, Sometimes it's better to tie it off with some floss or thread and cut it above the "belly button". Yes, they will spread their wings and shake and careful if you have a fan kit installed because they can stretch to high under those things and get nailed. They are just trying to dry themselves off and get their feet under them. Congrats on your hatchers!

It doesnt really look like its attached at the navel, just wrapped around the Body.. the belly button looks pretty well sealed off as far as i can see. my fan came covered, so will that be okay? And the heating elements are exposed, do you think theyll get burned?? Should i just let them be until theyre dried?! Im such a nervous wreck!! But theyre the most beautiful things ive ever seen.. the silkie is a VERY dark blue (it looks like anyway) and the other has light skin but feathered feet, maybe a dark grey or blue with yellow on its head and in a loop from under the wings around its little booty. Im so in love!! i have 2 others ( one of each) that have been pipped for just as long as these 2, they all pipped around the same time.. and nothing from the other 4.. think everything is going okay? Just let them be?

That's good that you have a covered fan. I have an older lg that the fan kit was added to after and it's open. I've had two chicks get hurt on this last hatch. One almost scalped himself poor guy. The heating elements can get awful hot, but if they hit those, the'll move quick. Good that it's (the gooey egg left overs) not connected. Yay for beautiful chicks!! And as far as the other two, just let them be is the best as long as they are breathing good, not distressed and the membrane around the pip hole is nice white and dry. If it turnes yellowish/brown and icky/leathery, then they need help cause it's drying out and becoing glued to them. I play one day old chicks chirping video (from youtube) at the bator to motivate them and get them moving....lol It works...lol especially when they start to zip!

I cant really see the chicks doing anything through the pip hole.. from time to time i see a little wiggle behind the hole on the mystery egg, nothing behind the silkie pip. I think theyre peeping but its hard to tell with the loud mouthes already out Lol. From what i see the membrane looks very similar to the shell, maybe slightly more see through, which means theyre still good, right? How can you tell if theyre distressed? And i know this is controversial, but would it be okay if i took the two who have hatched to their brooder when theyre dry? Since theres two? Or would that harm my other two who have pipped? My humidity stays rock solid so i dont think it would upset it too badly.. what do you think? And at what point should i consider helping them zip if they havent?

I pull mine out and put them in the brooder as soon as they are moving. Especially now that I've had two get hurt. But I've always pulled them out. So, I personally think as long as you have good humidity there is nothing wrong with that. You could also move the pippers into a position that you could see them better too if you are comfortable with that. How long have they been pipped?

I have a pretty good view. I do think ill take the two hatched out when theyre dry though. Is it normal for the newly hatched's feet to be kind of bent inwards? The silkie seems normal but the other is walking kind of club footed.. does it just take them time to figure it out? I think the silkie was hatched first, she seems more coordinated and drier. Anywho, one of the eggs pipped at 430 this morning, the other between 11 am and 1 pm.. its now 1052 my time..
