Purina game bird starter.

I just sprinkle some on the floor of the brooder for the 1st
day or so. I took this pic right after I moved them from the
hatcher to the brooder.

I'm glad you had a great hatch rate! Love hearing when my babies hatch!! I just hatched 100 out of 120 Jumbo Brown and Texas A & Ms. I've got little quail running everywhere.

Depending upon what kind of quail, they need finer food for a couple of weeks. With my button quail, I have been grinding it very fine for them for the first about 3 weeks. I just hatched some Coturnix that are 10 days old now, and they are now the same sizes as the 5 week old buttons, so I switched them over yesterday to the feed as it comes out of the bag and they seem OK with that.

The gamebird crumbles ground up do help the little boogers digest better. I feed my buttons the same as coturnix and baby chickens. No medicated food for oh no no...it just messes up with their immune system.


POINTERS TO ALL GAMEBIRD OWNERS: I went to the feedstore last week and picked up a bag of gamebird starter..I brought it home and read the label...it said "MEDICATED" Gamebird crumbles!!! PLEASE pretty PLEASE read your labels...medicated gamebird feed causes sterility in males later in their life. You don't want that. I just wanted to share this important message. NONMEDICATED is the way to go

I've been feeding all my buttons, coturnrix, bobwhite, and bantam chicks Purina Game Bird Startena for years without grinding it up. I've got so many birds that it would take me forever to grind up enough feed to feed them all.
