If the question is read for what it is saying it really isn't that bad. I get that she/he thought the last picture it was a too graphic for a very public sales ad.
If the ad was on this forum she/he would not have said anything because it would be expected and understood but being E-bay it is controversial at best and one should expect such remarks.
Sometime when doing searches on E-Bay (or any forum) you get some very unintended/unwanted results. This is something we should be concerned with when developing an ad on any public forum and exercise do diligence to be respectful of a general audience.
All in all, it's these small things we should be mindful of.
some people are just that way, im glad you told them off as well. when i was serching for chicken things the first killing cone i saw did not have a pic of it being used my thought was "how is that used?" i had to reserch it. i would have been glad to come across your add , if its a far away pic i see no reason for anyone to have to complain
When i had a rooster i needed to re-home, i put it on Craigslist, and i said that because he was so old, i really wanted him to be re-homed instead of butchering him.
OMG. You should've SEEN the hate mail.
LONG hate mail.
Maybe you can put a warning on your ad or something.
Some people are SO squeamish and in denial about how we get to eat.
I guess whatever you do to an animal is ok as long as you don't let anyone see it or hear about it.
Aggressive stupidity is the worst.
Iwork as a vet tech. Several years ago, me & another tech were eating lunch.. A third tech who claimed to be a vegetarian stood in the breakroom door & berated us for 15 minutes about how the hamburgers we were eating came from tortured animals. The entire time this nutbasket was standing there, she was eating a cup of JELLO. Finally the other tech had enough, & explained to the ignorant fool just exactly where her lunch had come from. After she vomited her cherry flavored horse hoof surprise all over the floor, she ran out the door, & I believe it was about 2 weeks before she could look either of us in the face. It was priceless. I'll never forget it.
Haha, I can be nice one time, but this was her response. Please note, that the "graphic" pic is a small, far away shot of birds in the cones. It isn't the main screen picture- you have to actually click it to see it. (I'd post it here, but you can't right click eBay photos and I don't have the original.) I guess I have a problem with the fact that you can buy/sell all the porn and sex toys you want on eBay, and you can get hookers on Craigslist, but THIS offends this person?
Response:
Q: I was looking under chicken hatching eggas and it came up. It is an awful photo. Very graphic and not necessary. I realize people eat birds. I just do not want to see it on ebay, the graphic part. Blood is graphic....you can clearly see the blood. People who sell leg traps here on ebay do not show a photo of an animal caught in it. People who sell handcuffs do not show a photo of a mass murder being hauled away. people who sell fish or animal gutting knoves do not show a photo of the knife cutting through the animal. Just get rid of the bloody photo.
My response:
No, it did not just "come up." You clicked on something called "killing cones," which should have given you a hint as to what it was. The main picture shows nothing graphic whatsoever. Then you saw the TINY pictures that came up on the page and had to CLICK the picture in order for it to "come up." If a little blood bothers you so much, you should get a grip on reality. I can turn on network TV and see more blood than that any time of day. Can't deal with the facts of where your food comes from? Stick to eating vegetables then. Better throw away your leather shoes too. Sorry, but even with the picture, I get a lot of questions asking how to use the cones, and many people are helped by the photo, so I won't be taking the picture down just because you don't like it and demand I do so. Also, because this is America, if you don't like it, you had the freedom to not only stop before following several links to the full size pic, but you also have the freedom to NOT LOOK AT IT AGAIN. How about you just focus on your own listings and mind your own business? You must have a lot of time on your hands to worry about this so much.
I just cannot fathom how little common sense is left in our world. There are way to many McPeople out there who have lost touch with reality. I'd love to take a person like that on a trip to Kodiak Island. You get a up close and personal experience of the food chain when you are a direct participant. A picture of a dead chicken pales in comparison.
OK, now i'm not a big ebay-er, but it totally just took me something like two minutes of looking at the ad just to FIND the "graphic" photo.
on that note, since i'm not big into ebay and i know they take a percentage of your money anyway, do you ever sell the cones outside of that site? i don't need them right now, but will in a couple months (as soon as my roo's are big enough!) and this thread makes me want to buy one from you. send me a PM sometime if you'd be willing to sell one without ebay as middleman
