Shipping eggs in wood shavings is a classic method of shipping eggs.
I ship a lot of eggs.. THe most recent was to a CA address and BOTH boxes received from 2 different sellers had the same damage. Hmmm... must be the handliers.
Mailing eggs is a crap shoot. Most of the time all goes well. SOmetimes it doesn't. Just no way to predict with 500, 000 employees . . . . .
I still don't understand why the USPS supplies boxes that don't hold up to their handling . . . .oh I know why . . . it is about stastitics. ANd insurance ANd if the customer bitches enough, tjhier might be a refund. Oh wait . . .. we are talking eggs here . . . .NO refunds.
Yes I agree that sellers need to make a reasonable effort to pack the eggs well. BUt even then I have seen total destruction at the hands of the USPS.
