Okay, so after months and months of consulting on this website I finally decided to join and be active.

A little about me, my first name is Dannie and I live in New England and currently I raise Cornish X Rock chickens. Last year I raised 104 meaties. I still have 13 of them left from my last flock of 40 from September. I also have one Chantecler rooster because I'm interested this year in cross breeding my own breed of chicken with a less winter hardy bird that is good on meat.

I love keeping chickens. I have learned to much. Hi everyone!

Welcome to the forum. How did your chickens do in this awful winter? It is only just warming up where I am.

My birds survived with only a few frostbite sections of their cones. I lost four but for other reasons besides the cold. I had to switch their feed to a higher protein content and they needed one heat lamp but they made it through multiple -30 degree nights.
