Hello everyone in the BYC. My name is Sal and I live in California. I'm a Heavy Equipment Operator. I love the outdoors and enjoy spending time with my family including my feather friends. I have raised chickens since I was about 10 years old. Some of my first chickens came from Stromberg's catalog. One of my favorite is the silky chicken. They are in my mine the best mothers and foster mothers. They will raise just about anything that has feathers. I have raised even turkeys under silky chickens. The baby chicks are twice the size of the silky hen. The hen will still try to cover them at night. I would see the young turkeys try to craw under it. The hen will go up in the air flapping it's wings trying to keep it's feet on the ground.
Well now that I'm older and live in the city. I can't keep chickens here so I had to get different feather friends now. I have raised Turkeys, Pheasants, Chickens, Chuckers, Quails, Parrots, Softbills and Pigeons. I currently raise exotic Pigeons and doves. I have over 30 species. If anyone has any questions and if I can help in any way. I would do my best to help. I work long hours so if I can't answer you right away. You now know why. That's cool that you raise pigeons. I like pigeons. I rarely see the ones that people raise though, aside from once a year at the show.
