Hi all, I recognize a few friends I know from two other good websites on the site group page elsewhere... I know this site comes highly recommended and it has come to me that I need to learn a lot more about caring for chickens and nomenclature and such now, over the Fall and Winter, in preparation of moving from the Northeast back in a westward direction again, to join a dear friend and her hubby on their small farmstead and I was given notice that I will be in charge of chickens, gardening, rabbits for meat raising and milk goats, so on this site here I hope to learn much about chickens with your good help.

My son also mentioned he and his wife , upon their return to north central TX when her Marine retirement time comes in a few more years, that they too want a small property ( several acres) to build on and have chickens and milk goats and gardening. This was a huge surprise but it will be close enough they can still go see their Pro football and baseball games in that region I guess!
So, as I learn, I can share information to help him get familiar with typical things one must deal with when it comes to taking care of chickens as it is new to him too.

I look forward to exploring the site here and reading in the forums.

Sounds like you are going to be a very busy lady! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. There's a lot of information here as well as a lot of friendly, helpful members.

Did you see that there is a forum here for goat and rabbits too:

BYC has something for everyone I think. Nice to have you here!

You've come to the right place. Welcome to Backyard chickens. The Learning Center is a great first stop in poultry education. It should answer most of your questions.
