Good decisions.I'm very new to chickens so please excuse this very amateur question. I assumed that since there is no rooster anywhere, the eggs will not produce chicks? You are right, we do need to provide her a safe place. We have a rather large mobile chicken coop that's not being used, at our farm that my husband will bring to our home. It just seemed rather drastic with only one chicken. But this productive girl need protection and pronto!
Same thing just happened to me. Glad im not alone!I’m very new to raising chickens and so looking forward to reading and learning from all of you! I just made my very first post on the forum. I think my one chicken is very very special. Here’s my post:
We have 1 chicken free ranging in our backyard that escaped from our neighbors coop. Over the last 2 weeks she hasn’t been around except to pop in and eat the food I leave for her and fresh water. Now I have been worried since I haven’t seen for 2 days. My husband discovered her hidden under a bush next to our house and she was sitting on 21 eggs!! Yes, 21 eggs…not a typo! My first post on this forum. My girl is a champ!!
