My wife and I are originally from MT but the oilfield brought us to Texas and now it’s home with 8 grandkids nearby. We raise registered Longhorns and Angus cattle, along with the chickens, several fish ponds, miniature donkeys (just two for the grandies). We spend much of our time raising and training English Springer and English Cocker Spaniels for hunting and field trial competition.
Grew up on farm in MT so always been around chickens but first got them at our Texas place about 12 years ago. We currently have a new 60 day old flock of 39 Easter Egger, Golden Comet and Cinnamon Queen hens. All for eggs as my wife won’t go the meat route with her buddies.
Besides the great eggs that home grown, free range chickens lay for us, they are great entertainment - seems that there is always a few of them with special qualities such as trying to get in our house, wanting to be held, teasing the dogs and just being nosey.
