Well a week ago we butchered 8 roo's...they were driving the hens crazy. It really wasnt that hard to do. This is what we did and it worked pretty well as far as the flapping is concerned.
I held them by the neck just below the head and it made them kinda sleepy.
Hubby laid them down and chopped the heads off.
Clean and simple and not much flopping either.
Dipped in hot water about 1 minute
Plucked the feathers and then gutted them, then cut the feet off.
Washed and seared the pin feathers off and put in the freezer.
Cooked 2 the other night and they taste so much better than the flavorless chicken that you get in the store.
Yep I hatched and raised theses too but there is a time you have to say...Too many roo's ruin the eggs, Thats life of some roo's...still have about 8 to go, but they are Banty roo's so not much there really. Also they cant really do much to my big hens either and the egg count is climbing as we speak...Good Luck all...its mind over matter...
