Putting alot of pressure on those little ladies aren't you? All things considered if you at some point had to start pushing eggs out of your butt you'd probably delay it as long as possible too. I know I would.

If I started pushing eggs out my butt, I'd be far more concerned about getting to the doctor as quickly as possible...

Check their pelvic bones, right below the vent. 1 finger width between and they aren't close to laying, 2 finger widths and you've got a few weeks, 3 and they will lay really soon.

Seems a bit envasive and personal! Some of my girls are really shy.

My first round of hens waited 8 months to start laying. Then suddenly one day there were five eggs in the nest. Bunch of freeloaders! It'll come. All good things come with patience and little stewpot threatening...

Lol, it's really not invasive and only takes a few seconds. My girls don't mind, they are more annoyed when I'm trying to check them for mites and stuff. But I've had 8 kids, so there's not much (besides spiders) that makes me squeamish.

8 kids wow I've got all I can handle from 3 mine seemed a tad annoyed when I checked her vent but I didn't really "get all up in her business" lol I barely moved her feathers and barely touched her...though I was a little awkward and uncomfortable myself being the first vent check I've ever done!
