I'm sorry. It's always when you least expect it or turn your back for just a second. My roo was a replacement from a previous roo and once they all get settled, they start to protect the flock. Of course it helps to have the top roo be one that can see, unlike my silkie roo who was master till he got taken away in the night by something. You should see if you can't get another one. With no blood and body still there I want to say some pet dog did him in. He probably saved a hen by using his own life. He did all he could do.

I went back out to were i put the roo and he was GONE!!:eek:Maybee whatever got him came back for the meat..maybee i spooked off the predator when i came back from town.and when i left he came back to get dinner...

I already got a new roo on the way,I called my cousin he said he might know somebody who had one they wanted to get rid of.I dont know what breed he is gonna be,i said as long as he is big strong and healthy! lol I wasnt as attached to him as much as my hens though..My roo wouldnt ever let me touch him.(probably bc i didnt raise him)

That makes the 3rd bird i have lost in the last 5 months!! ARRGGGG!!! I have the most trouble with daytime predators!!

Alright i got my roo...He is not really what i wanted but,i think he will grow on me??

I do not know what breed he is,i need some help figuring it out since i looked allover the net and couldnt find him...He kinda looks like a dark brahma..but more blonde color.
I dont have a camera...

He is feather footed, has a weird comb, looks like a dried overgrown raisen.exept its red..His tail feathers are black/green irredesent. He is mostly blond with black streaks on him.He is not on the BYC breed list..Im not sure if he is a bantam or not,im not even familure with bantams, but he is alittle bit bigger than my standard breed hens. Not nearly as big as my rooster that is gone:(
