Just Molting?

Poor Bubbles, she has been looking dreadful for a few days, flight feathers all poking out at weird angles etc. today I notice her speculum is totally gone and her flight feathers are gone and her tail looks pretty scraggly. I assume it’s just a molt, but mid December seems a poor time to do it, albeit it is unseasonably warm.

It's definitely strange for them to be in molt this time of year. I have some chickens just now finishing up their molt and one of my Muscovy still working on hers. Never had any of my birds molt this late before.

My two Muscovies just dropped all of their wing feathers maybe 1 and 1/2 weeks ago, and my little Rouen, Matilda, just finished growing back her speculum and flight feathers. I think Bubbles made a poor timing decision for sure, but it still looks like molting. I assume she’s acting normal?

Yes, she’s acting normal, the harlequins recently finished up, one of my Pekins is filling back in. Seems like summer might be more fun to do it in.
