Just moved up from San Jose, CA to Paradise, CA

My wife Susan and I left the big city to enjoy the country life. Before we even moved up here, I had purchased a chicken coop kit from Costco and planned to raise some chickens. Our limitations up here are two chickens (although one extra one might be a visitor, wink, wink) so we got four Barred Rock chicks last week at the local feed store in nearby Chico. So far, only one is exhibiting rooster tendencies...no tail feathers, white legs, very fearless...so we hope the other three are hens and we can keep them. My avatar is a bit of inside humor...city folks in the country, Green Acres television show....this place much like Andy Griffith's Mayberry...beats silicon valley any day.
