I am getting 6 Red Star, 4 more EE's, 4 more RIR, and 4 Welsumers (sp?) from MPC. Enjoy your new babies!

Ideal poultry has a lot of colors of cochins and polish, but they are straight runs only.

I have 4 white crested black polish chicks. My 5 yo calls them crazy head chicks. Their feathers are starting to come in and their heads are getting crazier! =-)

My polish are more energetic then my other chicks by far. The other night I went to check on them and the one with the little 'fro' was sitting on top of the wire that covers the brood box. Silly bird. She also used to sit on top of the feed jar and look at us. I took the jar out..... I notice the polish pushing the other girls around, even the ones that are bigger then them. They dont seem to be mean though, just pushy.

I got my polish at the feed store where I got all my chicks. I didnt expect them to have polish, but then again, I was surprised to see naked necks there too.

I too want a sultan, but that will come after I get my silkies.

The 1st time I went over my order it said I had to wait til May for all the order to be complete... so I went over my order again and again and it was the Partrige Cochins that were the delay... so I voided that order and added more Blue cochins...

I cant wait for the polish!!!

I could get them earlier but I want to brood them outdoors in the coop--- I have heat lamps but by mid April the worst of the real cold should be over... so I wait...

Good luck with your chicks. But Crevecoeurs are not polish they are their own breed. They are black and have tophats like the polish but come from France. I found them alittle more delicate than the polish

I asked my local feed store to order me some cochin chicks. They said they would be in by easter. I was thinking that the type of cochin that I really wanted is called a fizzle cochin she said she would get all kinds and that they do not come sexed. Do you have any advice on telling the difference between the diffrent sexs becouse i dont want to have more cocks then hens.

They really look the same but their different lol I think the crevecoeurs are thinner in buld but I dont thin there would be any problems mxing them Polish arent big birds as it is and they both lay about the same size egg. But the crevecouers should be solid black.

Hum... Good point...

I read that Polish have white eggs.. this true? What do you think about creating a polish that lays blue eggs... I do have my arucanas... that be and interesting mix... since I have several chickens anyway... I guess it wont hurt to mix one to see if I can create a polish that lays blue eggs... Right? Might take a few generations to make it.

You're gonna love your Polish. I love my Polish hens. They are by far the funniest, most personable chickens. They are lively and sassy, yet cuddly too. They do indeed lay white eggs. My girls are pretty good layers. Keeping them in a safe area is a good idea. I tried to let mine free range with the big girls and it was a disaster. A hawk took one with me standing RIGHT THERE. Now they stay in a covered run.

Enjoy!
