Some of these are for a friend. Every daggone hatchery I called was sold out. I called: Meyers, Welp, Cackle, Ideal, Mt. Healthy and McMurray was just to expensive. So I went with Hoovers. That is probably my favorite hatchery but i was wanting some rare breeds too but I just decided to stick with layers. I was going to get Marans, Barnevelders and California Wjites( Sorry Matt. Sold Out). I already placed my order with Meyers a long time ago but they said it would be July before I could get all of thoses chickens together. I like Meyers too but I would like these to lay at early August late. Either one. I am selling hatching eggs od of these too for extra money. I believe I am in over my head. I wish I just could have gotten adults but ddidn't want to spend $400 for what I needed. And I know how everybody on here likes "chickies" so I ordered some of them. I don't care for raisng them when they are babies but I make some new "friends" when I am doing i so oh well. I have 50 chicks coming. Lord help me!

Someone just jumped head first into the crazy pool!!!

I was not brave enough, I had to dip a toe or two in the kiddie pool first. You're already in the deep end!! Good luck with your babies.

Congrats on the new babies coming. Mine are due to arrive either mon. or tues. I have 52 coming in my order.Light and buff standard brahmas, blue and buff standard cochins, buff orps, and naked necks. These are breeds I have never had before, so I'm really excited.!!!! Hope all your babies arrive safely....

I've never had chicks before... and somehow I ended up with 48 chicks all at once. Honestly though, it's not as bad as everyone thinks it is (my family and friends think I'm crazy!). As long as you have enough space for all the babies to hang out, it can't be much harder than only have a few! This is what I keep telling myself....

And FeatheredFF, I have always wanted them brahamas! I have thoses cochins but I like the way them Brahamas look! Good Luck with your babies also. I hope they all arive safe. And post pictures of them too please. I have never seen a baby brahama. Just the big ones. Mine are going to be here on Thursday hopefully. Good luck with your chickens and have fun!Thoses naked necks are a real sight!

Crazymomof2, by the way your desribing it is what I am feeling hahaha. I am feeling just like you.I am glad you think its not that bad. I have plenty of room for them. I'm glad somebody has ordered like i have. I'm glad I aint the only crazy one.

What breeds does everybody got? I have Buffs orp , Barred rocks, cochins, silkies and fixin to have 50 daggone babies haha.

I have 25 barred rock hens right now. Got them last august from mypetchicken.com. They are really nice girls. Laying lots of eggs!!!! I have 3 roosters that I got from a friend last year who had to many to keep. A barred rock roo, some kind of game bird rooster. And a black silkie rooster. Usually in the past when I order chickens I always got the same kind , SLW's. I loved em, but was ready for a change. In the earlier post I forgot to mention that I had a few buff orps. just not as babies. We got them when they were about 4 months old. Hubby bought home 10 of the buff orps. But the bulldogs got loose one day and killed all but 3 of them.

You talk about mad. But husband said I couldn't kill $3,000 worth of bulldogs for $40 worth of chickens. But I wanted to really bad.!!!!

So dogs are now in their own pens where they cannot get out and terrorize any more birds. I really loved the buff orps. Great chickens.

And I have been wanting the standard cochins and brahmas for awhile now. So I can't wait for them to get here. Will definitely post some pics. Can't wait to see the naked necks either. From what I understand they are great birds to have.

Well Tammy I see you got them. Kind of dreading my shipment. Just wish mine would hurry up and grow up haha.

Has anybody ever ordered from Hoovers? I got their productions a few years ago but never did get anything else
