just ordered my chicks! sexing accuracy?

Ok I have waited along time to order my egg layers, today at the feed store they were finally excepting orders

I got:
2 black sex link
2 new hampsire x barred
2 rir x columbia
2 columbia rock x red
8 barred rock

The barred rock has a 80% accuracy and the columbia x a 90% are these numbers normal?
can't wait unil march 23 after 2pm which is thier first shipment date to the store!

normal is 90%, 80% is low. Can i ask why all the crosses, most of those crosses are sex-link, depending on who the rooster is, and if they are sex-link you should have 100% accuracy

My feed store will have chickens and would like to get some, but my problem is i do not want any roosters, so how can i tell which are hens? The store does not know which is which. I may have to find some place else.

the only chicks you can sex 100% is sex-link, and those are crosses, so if your feed store doesn't order pullets, you won't know till the grow, and an order of pullets will still not be 100%

The hatchery only offers 3 full bred chicks- rir, br and leghorn, I wanted my flock to have a bit of color and the x's are hearty and suppost to be quiter.My order the hens are going to be black ones, black with laced neck,white with a touch of black ,brown and barred. Leghorn was only avl on 2 week chicks. I really only want 8-10 so plenty just in case some are roos and a few chick deaths( I hope not!).

my feed store is ordering pullets, but will not know the sex., so that worried me, that i will have roosters

if they are ordering pullets, and you get there befre the kids mix the chicks by playing with them you should get pullets, or ask nice for them to remove the pullets you want before they put them out. Pullets are girls

ok thanks, do you know what kind breed the feed stores., usually get of chicks they said they do not know yet but they are ordered and due to come last of march

My understanding is that feed stores or agri stores who order chicks from the same hatcheries everybody else does, doesnt have the talent or time to sex chicks. They are simply saying you get what you ordered. The sexing always occurs at the hatchery either distant or local. What they also do is order specials or extras and thats what you find in the tubs in the various stores. Also any orders canceleled after shipment.

I think I might be able and better to buy from a farm craigs list or something around here, not a fed store. What do you think of buying on at the poultry auction
