Chick 1, pretty sure he's a roo!

Chick 2, I'm thinking roo also but comb/wattles not quite as red

Chick 3, pullet?

Chick 4 roo?

Chick 5 pullet?

I have others that are a little behind this lot so I'll leave them for a bit before posting! I appreciate they probably are a little young to be sure but some are apparent!

I am showing my ignorance, but I am assuming your last 3 are barnyard mixes and if they follow the same rules as easter eggers, they are all roos - deep mahogany red wing feathers and irregular pattern. I think that your #2 may be a pullet - give it a few more weeks and re-post pics

Hi many thanks for the responses so far

yes they are barnyard mixes the reds mum is a rhode island crossed with a faverolle/lohmanns the whites mum is a light Sussex bantam crossed with the same roo, I am pretty sure number 3 is indeed a pullet so I don't think the colours are sex linked in anyway as easter eggers are and number 2's wattles went a very dark shade of red today so I'm now pretty certain that is a roo too

will post pics of the other group, I am really hoping there is more pullets in the other 7 otherwise I will have 11 roos and 1 pullet! how is that for bad luck?? strange thing was the light Sussex has been bred before and she gave me more pullets than roos ...

im not sure if any are pullets...if any are this one would be it but its color is makes me think cockerel

I think #2 might be a girl.....When I let my hen hatch out eggs, my mixed breed chicks got red combs early....I thought they were all boys. In a few weeks you'll be able to tell better. Also, look at the legs....thick legs is a boy thing.
