The rooster is actually a cross (BLRW x Black English Orpington) and it turns out he won't be quite as exciting as I'd hoped, but I still think he's going to make some beautiful, hardy babies for me. We just lost our dominant roo (a Salmon Faverolle that I believe was sterile, unfortunately) and replaced him. We have a secondary rooster who is also a mix and unfortunately the ugliest fellow I've ever bred/owned, but at least the ladies love him.

I haven't taken many good chicken photos recently -- not much to see in the wintertime -- but if you scroll past all the cross-stitch photos there is plenty to see tucked in with the food pics, ha! Instagram
