My tiny house in Powell Missouri
We just wanted to say Hi. We have browsed BYC for some time and finally decided to sign on up. We have built several tiny houses deep in the woods of Missouri where the three of us own property and plan on building our family.. He has some poultry experience, he grew up on a commercial broiler farm but he will be the first to tell you having a backyard flock is nothing like having 100,000 broilers. We do a little bit of everything, we do all kinds of arts and crafts, we like to garden, this year we grew tomatoes, peppers, a couple kinds of squash, several strawberries, a bunch of beans ;) , peas, watermelons, punkins are coming along, potatoes, corn, all kinds of herbs, blackberries, blueberries, radish, lettuce, cabbage, .. i think thats it.. and we are starting a little farm.. so far we only have a couple goats, guineas, and rabbits.. along with our 3 dogs and we want to add more dogs lol an alpaca or two, some chickens, and some guinea hogs.. We are typical Missourians we like to be left alone and we tend to stay low key. Some people might call us prepers, I think we are just living life, We Have been taking steps every year to becoming more sustainable , we limit our power consumption so we wont be on a lot but we do look forward to meeting like minded people, making some new friends, learning a thing or two and sharing our knowledge as well. Well Hi till next time!

Hi, welcome to BYC!

Having lived in KS for many years, I'm familiar with your part of MO. Very pretty part of the country.

Here's a forum you may be interested in, it's for do-it-yourselfers/self-sufficiency folks:

Hope you like it here, there's a lot of information available as well as friendly, helpful members.

We've floated most of the MO streams south of the Missouri River.
I've missed a few in the far SW part of the state since I'm from the east. Down your way I've floated Spring River, Center Creek, Roaring River, North Fork, and Niangua.
I've floated the Buffalo in Arkansas a few times. One of my favorites.

Elk river is the main river for floaters out here its a very easy float, then there are countless creeks ..we don't travel to the rest of Missouri very often .. we don't travel anywhere really , we went to colorado a couple times last year but still haven't made it back this year.. life keeps getting in the way.

hi flchick . i love Kansas i love how straight and flat it is, when you grow up in the ozarks its a big change... soo many wind turbines

Actually, the eastern part of KS is pretty hilly. It doesn't start to flatten out until you move west of the Flint Hills. But I always thought it was pretty...all of it, flat or hilly. Maybe not the typical "pretty" but awesome nonetheless. One complaint I have about the part of FL we live in now are all the trees...I miss seeing that big open sky!

Welcome to Backyard chickens, so glad you joined the flock
