.......I started making an adjustment on my fridgebator today, I was supposed to do this 2 months ago when i first built it (make it work) i got all excited back then when i saw the temp work perfect that i went ahead and set 71 eggs.....i had my hatch and instead of working on it and making the shelves needed, i went ahead and set 200 eggs, had that hatch and finally i went ahead and started working on it. not to much work either......

.......i left it on its back, built a tray 54 inches in lenght and 20 inches wide with 2x4, nailed a wire mesh on its bottom, i punched holes on the bottom of egg cartons to let the air flow from the bottom of the eggs (capacity of cartons in tray = 178 eggs). I then screwed 2 brackets on the bottom part of the tray and slid a 54 inch broomstick thru the brackets, i then slid the broomstick on each end of the fridgebator (2 holes were made to slip in the broom stick) and BOOM....that's it.....i now can manually turn all 178 eggs at one time in 3 seconds kind of works like a see-saw. Anyway got all excited .....AGAIN!!!....and headed out to my neighbors farm and got me another 200 eggs but could only fit 178......darn.....lol....I will put some pics tomorrow.....anyone else addicted to hatching eggs?.............I know I AM!!!!........

LOL

I set 10 eggs from my flock. I have not really successfully hatched before so I am hoping this time it might work. This is attempt #4 for me.

I calibrated my hygrometer and got a new thermometer because mine was off. I am also using the Egg-o-Meter. I am hand turning in a still air LG.

Believe it or not my husband encouraged me to try again. I wanted to give up. I have only had 4 chicks hatch and they all died. One made it to 4 weeks and just died the other night :(

sorry to hear of your chicks......i also started hatching my first time back in the end of jan on a homemade aquarium incubator (you can see the pics on my profile).....if i remember correctly i set 45 eggs and ended with 33 or so for lockdown and got a 100% hatch rate, after that i built another 4 bators and all of them have worked perfect.....right now i have bator #5 with 3 emu eggs and my fridgebator with 178 eggs i just set........i do the dry hatch method and it has always worked great for me......humidity always between 30%-35% and temp 99-101...........lockdown humidity up to 75% and everything has always turned ok for me......dont give up and keep on trying......

I'm jealous. I'll be following this.
What do you do with all your chicks?
lol.......i gave some to my nephews, sold some to local feedstores, sold some at the fleamarket, and kept some females to add to my flock.....

......here some pics of my remaining chicks (approx 120 left) ranging from 3 months to 3 weeks gamefowl and barnyard running free in our yard

I didn't expect much from mine - 1 rooster to 60 hens but I got 35 chicks out of 44 eggs - 3 died in lockdown. Maybe that isn't all that great. Oh well, it is all for the fun of it.

Love the pictures
