It will also help with the heat come summer, as the coop is a converted metal shed…thank goodness for shade!
Shade is a great blessing.
I contemplated turning a metal shed into a chicken coop, but it proved too structurally unsound to move. The first thing I would have done would have been to remove the doors entirely and replace them with wire -- using the salvaged doors to create a "porch" roof over the now-open wall.
