hi!i have 1 BO,1 buff rock, and 4 RIR.i have had them since they were 2 days old.they are now big beautiful birds laying great eggs.i planned on getting a few different breeds each spring just to see how they are.so far,my buff rock is a big gorgeous girl, acts like a lady, kinda friendly.my BO is just kinda there, she really doesn't care wh
ether i'm there or not.my RIR are the coolest.they come running up to me when they see me,they get behind me when the roosters are bothering them and they sit on the porch with me.now i raised them together and treated them all the same but so far the RIR are the choice.funny thing is i wasn't even going to get them but my husband talked me into it.

i'm getting rid of the mixed roosters i have now(mean) and thinking of a Polish.i want a rooster to be with my hens(not to breed) and a pet(any thoughts?).

am i the only one who digs worms for thier chickens-in the rain-with a cold?-maybe its just me.

Hi, and another welcome from the Hoosier State! Yeah...my husband laughs at me when he catches me out in the field chasing down grasshoppers to throw into my girls' run...so you're in the right place!!

Welcome from East Tennessee -
When we dug our raised beds this spring, the chickens would come running, jump on the shovel and grab the worms before we could get the dirt off. And yea, I chase down bugs for them too.
