I sold 2 doz eggs for $2 a dozen now that my chickens are laying enough for home use and now extras.

I know it might not seem like much to many here, but for me it is a big deal.

I added 4 Buff Orpington hens and 4 Rhode Island Red Hens and they are laying nice big eggs.

Congrats, and yes it is a big deal. I still don't have any laying.

Thanks, the 8 hens are laying 5 to 6 eggs a day.

My new egg buyers would like up to 7 doz a week.

I can't provide that many so I asked a friend and she said she could do about 3 doz a week, between the two of us I think we can make the order every week for a while.

You are right it is not just one person, it is a group of ladies that live in a housing area not to far from my ranch.

They were unhappy with the store eggs ( can you blame them) and saw my little ad at the CO-OP.

I made my add simple, eggs brown $2 a dozen - provide own carton.

and that was enough to get the phone call and my first order.

Yes, every little bit of cash inflow does help.

I sold a few dressed chickens and sold 5 broad brested brooze turkeys.

The off set of costs is a goal of mine, I hope to some day be at a break even.

It may take years to get there and I will enjoy the trip.
