Just some fun pictures I took today .....

Gypsy is deaf - sometimes
lol.png
- no thankfully her hearing is just fine when she wants to listen LOL.

Gypsy is actually the younger sister to my brindle boxer they are about 1.5 years apart.

there is also a brother to the two girls who is also white and he is 2 years old and has perfect hearing - so out of the three litters there has not been a deaf one born, in Gypsy's litter there was 2 males born both are whites !!

I do know that white boxers can be raised and treated like any other boxer other than the sunburn thing - they can also get breed as long as you DO NOT breed two white boxers together - the puppy's will be born Albino and they will/can be born deaf, blind and lots of other health and skin issues.

I am so glad you were able to rescue that poor boxer - was the eye something that was easy to treat and cure?

I did alot of reading on boxers before we got our first one and learned alot about the colorings and health issues - I am glad I did.

Your boxers are sooo sweet! We have a stray boxer that wanders around our property (and everyone else's). It makes me sad every time I see him because it's obvious someone abandoned him. I've tried to make friends with him, but he is so cautious that he never let's me anywhere near. I sometimes leave out food for him, but I don't know if he gets it with all the other animals roaming about. He's so skinny and I don't know where he sleeps when it rains or snows, but this is going on the second year he's been around. I've seen him walk through the middle of my chickens when they are out, and he just walks by them without a second glance. I wish I could catch him and find him a home. Poor baby, he deserves a warm, loving place. Enjoy your babies and give them extra hugs to make up for the ones this guy doesn't get. :|

If you can contact a vet and tell them about this guy and see if they can give you something to slip in the food that will make him sleeply, than maybe you can get him to a shelter or a rescue group. I have been around boxers going on 4 years and they are the kind of dog that knows no stranger they are normally very friendly and loving - so if he is acting scaried chances are he was abused and lost trust in people - that is a shame they are such wonderful dogs and even though mine can be royal pains in the butt sometimes - I wil never own a couch that does not have a boxer on it !!

Believe me, I've thought about trying something like that, Julie. The problem is that so many other critters run around here (racoons, posums, coyotes, skunks, bobcats, neighbors dogs, cats, etc) I don't know who would end up with it. I also never know when he might be around as he wanders from place to place. I've had a number of friends who have had boxers, and they have always been the sweetest dogs. I agree with you that something terrible must have happened to have him so distrustful of people. It is so sad. Every time I see him I stop and talk with him, and he is now just sitting there listening as long as I don't try to get too close (50 feet is close for him). He used to just run any time he saw someone, so maybe one day he'll let me close. That's about all I can hope for.
