My 1 1/2 year old RIR stopped eating, drinking, and laying. She also stopped moving. The vet pumped her full of fluids and pulled a piece of an egg out of her. He also told me that during this type of heat I should double the calcium in the food. Since they drink so much water during a heat wave the oyster shells pass right through them. Food for thought. Wow you saved her life!

I added more oyster shells and 'omega egg maker' to the layer feed. Unfortunately Penny didn't make it. She passed 3 hours after we got home from the vet. I was devastated to say the least and nearly vomited as I buried her. Needless to say I called Mr. vet and let him have it.

So sorry you lost Penny, You did all you could, and she is no longer suffering
