Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a bit and anticipate having lots of questions after my chicks come home, so here's my intro
I live in northwest Seattle, with my husband, dachshund, and two daughters, ages 4.5 and 2.5. I grew up in rural Wisconsin and have dreams of moving to the country to raise sheep and keep ponies. But, for now, we are "stuck" in the city so I'm trying to keep happy with a vegetable garden and chickens. I'll be a first-time chicken keeper, and I'm so excited!! I took a class on "city chickens" and have been reading all I can get my hands on. We're building The Garden Ark chicken coop based on plans from The Garden Coop, with a few mods because my husband is obsessed with making it predator-proof. I have a brooder (old dog crate) set up in our attached garage, and will be going to pick out three day-old (or 1 week-old) chicks tomorrow.
I have already learned so much from the articles and archives on this site, everyone here is so helpful and knowledgeable
