I recently joined back yard chickens. I am now officially a chicken owner. I picked up my first 2 hens yesterday. A couple of barred rocks. I have also gotten my first 2 eggs.
These ladies are sweet girls. They have not entered the temporary kennel I'm having to use on their own yet. But they have been easy to catch. We were even able to hold them for a bit today. One poor girl is badly hen pecked and had to be treated on her back, and she has a split beak I must repair. My dad swears I should return the defective chicken, but I'm a sucker for an animal in need.
My boys just love these chickens so much already.
