What an amazing group of people! Thanks for letting me join you. I know I will learn much in reading your various posts and I hope to also be able to share my knowledge as I gain more experience with my birds. I have eight hens and a rooster I'm keeping in a chicken tractor that I built over this past winter. So far things are going well. My beginner flock is about four months old and I am looking forward to their first little eggs.

will your tractor be big enough as they reach mature size?
 
Having never raised chickens before, I'm learning "on the fly". Most of what I know is from books and friends' advice. All the birds seem very happy at this point in time. There is plenty of room to roost and I move the tractor frequently. The coop is a 4 ft cube. The run is about 4 ft by 24 ft. I built it with two nest boxes because I was originally only going to get six chickens. But I ended up with nine when all was said and done. I am thinking I may need another nest box. What do you think?
