All 4 of my chickens died last night. Their heads gone, and one nearly stripped to the bone. Feathers everywhere, 2 of the 4 bodies at the edge of the cage. How did this happen? I live in northern Florida. The enclosure was completely closed off.
I feel terrible.
This will probably be my last thread here. RIP Thicken, Aspen, Indra, and Octavia.

Raccoons and weasels are the head-rippers. That really stinks I'm so sorry! Perhaps if it was a weasel it may have killed all of them and another opportunistic animal took advantage. Or perhaps it was a raccoon but I don't know if they eat them all the way down to the bone. Still learning here.

Racoon will eat the head off, will eat a whole bird feathers and all. If the enclosure was closed off maybe a weasel or mink. Weasel family can go thru very small holes.

Sorry about your loss...hopefully you can secure the coop and try again after you have grieved. Life is better with chickens.
