Just wondering what my "Barred Rock" chick really is...any ideas?

I got this little chick from the straight run Barred Rock brooder at my local TSC. They just grab them and put them in a box and, well, I didn't really pay much attention. We got two of them from this tub. We've had them a week now and I just noticed that their combs are entirely different. They both look very similar other than one has a little bit lighter colored breast and belly and the combs. Any suggestions as to what I actually have?

If it is black and white, maybe a silver laced wyandotte since that seems to be a rose comb.

I was thinking it looked like a rose comb as well. In my research, I see that Dominique's have rose combs also. I would be thrilled with either one honestly. The Silver Laced Wyandotte is a beautiful bird. I love to have a variety of breeds and many different colored eggs. It makes for an interesting looking flock and a beautiful egg basket.

That's no Dominique so I'm going with Silver Laced Wyandotte

Its weird how the chicks look so much different than fully feathered birds. My daughter will be ecstatic if this little chick is a SLW. She picked it out. The only thing I'm not sure about is that this little peep is almost all black with just some white dotting on its head and a light gray belly. I thought SLW was more of a gray color with some darker patches...at least the ones I've seen online.

Well, I was just perusing the internet and lo and behold, I found a picture of a Silver Laced Wyandotte about the same age as our little mystery, and it looks EXACTLY like it . So I think I am going to go ahead and call it. It is a Silver Laced Wyandotte...and my daughter is absolutely thrilled...Thank you guys for your input. I probably never would have guessed it. I was for sure thinking Dominique...but that's why I asked! Thanks again...

The reason most of us ruled out Dominique right off was lack of a white head spot. Any black barred bird will have a white/cream spot on the head at hatch.

See...that's why I love this site. I learn somethinging new all the time. This is my first time with chicks and I am absolutely in awe with the speed at which the grow. I think I have some Buff Orpington chicks too but its kind of a wait and see game...its really exciting to see the new feathers when I get home from work each day...

Well, you all impress me. The chick is turning into a beautiful Silver Laced Wyandott. I just have to wait and see if it's a he or a she...and my other Barred Rock that I got from TSC? I think its an Australorp...and my Buff Orpingtons are looking more and more like isa browns. Fortunately I wasn't real concerned about what kind they are. However, I have learned a valuable lesson...if are particular about the breed you're getting...don't get them from TSC! Lol...

PS...I was back to the store yesterday and they have a whole stock tank full of baby chicks that are supposed to be White Leghorns...and they are light brown...too funny....
