Hello! My name is Justin and I am from Saint Louis, Missouri.

My wife and I are very new to this and look forward to all of the help you give us along the way. We got our first 5 hens yesterday - 3 barred rock, 2 orpington, all are 5 months old. So far the barred rock are definitely our favorites. Although, one of them is quite a bit larger than the others and is clearly the alpha of the group. Our other hobbies include gardening, kayaking, and we are avid sports fans. We also have a 2 year old daughter and she is obsessed with our "bird chickens". Through the process of getting everything prepared for the hens, we used BYC as a reference several times. It only made sense to join the community!

Barred rocks are a very friendly breed. I have 18 different breeds and my 2 PBRs, one hen and one 7 week old chick, are the friendliest.

Welcome to BYC!! I am not too far from you. I live in Cedar Hill which is in Jefferson County, MO. It takes about 40 to 45 minutes to get to Busch Stadium from my house.
