Juvenile hawk failed attack (no casualties or injuries - but one very upset Silkie momma hen)

I just played it again while sitting inside. The very specific alarm call given by hen as played over computer speaker riles thr game rooster on front porch to attack anything that moves. Shortly after the dogs came barreling into house to find computer. It would be fun to take recording out to cockyard and to where broody hens are kept to see how they respond.

My boyfriend was amazed at the ferocity of the hen. And how determined the chicks were to stay away from danger.

That same hen without the influence of being broody would run. Mine do the same. They run from a foe they could whip if they simply would stand their ground. I have witnessed four week-old chicks attack fledging American Kestrels that were roughly their same size. Vocalizations were very similar.

omg!! IF THAT HAPPENED TO ONE OF MY HENS MY GROIN WOULD GO BACK UP TO MY STOMACH AND I WOULD PUT ALL MY CHICKENS IN MY ROOM XD glad to hear everyone was ok!!! when i saw the hen yelling at the hawk at the fence line i was like "OMG NO NO NO IT GOT ONE!!!" then i re read the post and saw that the rest of the chicks ran back inside XD
