I followed Nanakat's advice and looky here.... These are started from seed, apparently Kaffir (Asian) limes grow true from seed like Meyer lemons.

I put the cups over them at night and during windy thunderstorms -- kind of like a blanket -- They're in Miracle Gro soil which I allow to become fairly dry in between waterings. I hope they continue doing well! Nanakat, are you out there? What'll be next for me to do?

Actually, I read how to start them online - Nanakat just told me how to move the peat pots to the larger size and what to do next :)etc. When I get home tonight I'll post all the directions!

They are looking wonderful and healthy!

You want to keep an eye on the roots. If you notice that they are reaching the walls of the pot or are beginning to come out the hole in the bottom of the pot, then it is time to move the seedlings into the next size pot.
You can carefully tap the side of the pot and allow the root ball to slide out in your hand to check for roots. then water it back into the pot.

When they are ready, put some of your soil mix in the bigger pot so that the root ball will be at the same height and then use a tool to push extra soil in around the root ball. Firm that up and water it in.

Then keep doing what you are doing 'cause you're doing great.

Thanks, Nana! I'll do that. They do look good, don't they? I'll post more pictures when they get a little bigger.
Piecemaker, to start the seeds I took only the fattest ones from a fresh lime and soaked them in water for a week, changing the water daily. (This was the advice I found from a gardening forum online, I have no idea what it was now, I've slept since then) After 7 days of soaking I planted them about a half inch deep in the compressed peat pots from Wal-Mart that sit in the little windowsill greenhouses. First I soaked the peat pots to "inflate" them, then put in the seeds and covered them loosely. It took a full week and then 2 of the 12 germinated! I was so excited, it was like finding out you're finally expecting! I let them become fairly dry between waterings, and then when they were getting their 2nd set of leaves I sent out a plea for help on BYC and Nanakat answered. I don't know how to link to a previous thread but I'm sure you could find my original Kaffir lime seeding post if you searched it, if not let me know and I'll cut and paste her original advice. She's the guru! The hardest part was being patient through it all. I'm not naturally a patient person, but I'm trying to control myself. I won't look for blossoms for another week or two!

In a few weeks I'll put up another picture if anyone's interested. Happy planting!
