Wow - 208 pages in the feed section! My apologies if this is already there. I have a whole lot of stuff that's gone to seed, especially giant bouquets of kale. Can I mix this into the layer ration? Any seeds to avoid? I wouldn't use leftover commercial veg seed because it is often treated. I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

If they were MY birds, I'd offer those seeds to them (not knowing of a reason not to), as they like kale and all cabbage family plants. And they like lettuce. So why not the seed? Unless anybody knows of anything definitely nasty, I'd say offer it, and worst case is they decide they don't like it.

(You checked the DON'T list, didn't you?)

I just give mine the whole plant. They've been eating a lot of bolted spinach recently. I'm saving at least some of my kale seeds (OP variety) for ME, but they get the rest of the bolted plant.

Thanks Puck Puck and vermontgal. Yes, I cked the don't list - just wondered if there was something different or concentrated in the seeds and I've never seen that kind (vegetable) of seed in home brew recipes. I suppose it would have to make up a substantial proportion of their diet before I worried about nutritional content. It will probably come down to a taste thing! v-gal, I tried offering seed pods when they were green with a couple of flowers and minimal leaf left - they were only interested in the leaf. I'm saving plenty to plant as well - people and chickens enjoy the greens all winter and spring. Thanks
