I feed Kalmbach Flock maker pellets, but recently purchased Purina All Flock crumbles for the new chicks in lieu of Kalmbach crumbles. Purina is very fine and almost a powder. Wondering if anyone has compared crumble size, and/or might have a picture to share of the Kalmbach crumble? Since it’s a 50# bag, I was hoping to feed the crumbles to all the flock until the chicks can eat pellets (bag is gone), but having to make a mush for adults to eat it. Wondering if both are the same size?

Here is a picture of our Kalmbach's Flock Maker crumbles. There is a minuscule amount of Rooster Booster Granules, Exact Baby Parrot feed, and Chinese Skullcap Baicalin mixed in that slightly changes the color.

That's a quarter laying in it.

Everyone gets that here...chicks, chickens, and ducks. We have silkies that prefer the crumbles.

Thank you for the picture and egg info. That’s what I was hoping for. Wanted to attach a pix of the Purina I have but don’t see how to attach it? Not sure if a faulty bag or the norm, but they are eating very little of it. I think I’ll return it and order the Kalmbach.

Maybe not related but for a while I was feeding Purina all flock and my egg production was reduced by 50%! I finally found a local dealer for Kalmbach Flock maker, wow what a difference! 🙂

hello, are you currently using the Kalmbach Flock Maker for chicks, pullets, and egg layers as well? our egg production is good in my flock, older hens still laying nice large eggs consistently Im using the Kalmbach Henhouse Reserve and the Purina Flock Raiser pellets 20% protein, I would prefer the Kalmbach brand instead of the Purina for the chickens, for the horses I use Purina Omolene 200

Hello! I am using the Kalmbach flock maker for all of our birds ( no chicks at the moment ). Ranging in age from 2.50 yo to 6 months. I have plenty of oyster shell offered free choice. I use the flock maker because if there are birds not laying for various reasons layer formula has too much calcium for non laying birds. Not healthy for them. If they need more they freely ingest the oyster shells. We get great eggs with great shell thickness! If I remember correctly Kalmback flock maker is recommended for chicks as well. I will look when I go out to lock them up tonight. 🙂
