Hi! After staring at a sweet chicken coop here on my farm for the last 10 years, I decided to actually raise some chickens this year. I am a complete rookie and am learning as I go. This site has been so helpful. I have three 4 month olds and six three month olds. A dog attack resulted in several losses and a broken heart. I'm determined for that not to happen again. I have an attached enclosed run with my coop, a separate chicken tractor, and I let the three older chicks free range when I'm watching. I know for sure that two of the three oldest are roosters. They're all a lot of fun so far.

Glad you could join the flock! I'm sorry to hear about your dog attack, how very sad for you. That's quite a time you have been looking at your coop before add any birds, it's great that you have decided to get started with your new venture now though.
