Glad to be a member of backyardchickens. We had a huge flock of chickens over 35 years ago. Since then have moved and this year finally got chickens again. Have 5 hens and 1 rooster. They are great and just started laying eggs about three weeks ago. Get anywhere from 3 to 5 eggs a day. Our chickens are very spoiled and expect treats out of our garden everyday, handfed of course.
I have two Rhode Island Reds, a Sex Link, a Barred Rock, a Wyandotte, and an Ameracauna rooster. Bought them at one day old as hens. They are producing pets. Lol. Big Red, Rusty, Sexy, Dottie, Winnie, and BB supposed to be Bella.

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
