To any of you who may want to grow more of their own food but don't have a garden or live in too cold of a climate for certain plants, there is actually a lot of plants that you can grow inside your house in pots, ranging from herbs all the way to dwarf fruit trees.

My family and I live in zone 3 which is pretty cold, and we can't grow as many things as people in warmer climates. We also have a short growing season - less than 120 days. With lots of research, we've discovered that we can actually grow certain things inside our house that you can't normally grow in zone 3.

For example, currently my mom is growing all these plants in our house over winter and putting them outside in the summer when it's warm enough for them:
a Moringa tree, a dwarf pomegranate, Roselle, Malabar Spinach, Longevity Spinch, ginger, guavas, dwarf everbearing mulberries, an avocado tree, dwarf pineapples, dwarf figs, passion fruit, and more that I can't even think of right now! She also growing some herbs such as rosemary, and garlic chives.

This is only a fraction of them. There is also dwarf coconuts, dwarf oranges, dwarf lemons, Mandarin oranges, and bunch of other things!
All you have to do is research it a bit! There really is a lot more options out there then come to mind.

Your mom rocks by the way!
I love her selections, and absolutely love indoor gardening too.

So Silkies... Some reason I just love looking at them, to the point I almost bought another cockerel today. I even enjoy looking at pictures of the 2 I already have, but I just can not get in to them when it's in person. Even my own!

This fella almost got a new home today though.
