I will be ordering her some chicks to raise.

Aryeh, you are awesome!

What breed do you think you’ll get?

Well I found a Rabbi who will do the special slaughtering of the hopefully Rhode Island Red cockerels so I’ll get maybe some Barred Plymouth Rock cockerels, Wyandotte cockerels, or Red Sex Link cockerels.

Jane will love them either way... Just don’t tell her why they are going to mysteriously disappear one day.Well I found a Rabbi who will do the special slaughtering of the hopefully Rhode Island Red cockerels so I’ll get maybe some Barred Plymouth Rock cockerels, Wyandotte cockerels, or Red Sex Link cockerels.

That's awesome. I don't want to sound ignorant, maybe just uneducated. Would you explain to me why you need a rabbi to do the slaughtering?Well I found a Rabbi who will do the special slaughtering of the hopefully Rhode Island Red cockerels so I’ll get maybe some Barred Plymouth Rock cockerels, Wyandotte cockerels, or Red Sex Link cockerels.
I wouldn’t mind explaining at all. So since I’m Jewish and I keep kosher I need a Rabbi or someone certified as a shochet (ritual slaughterer) to slaughter the chickens and check the carcasses to make sure everything is good. If you pop over to my thread about Jewish Poultry keepers it’s explained better over there. That's awesome. I don't want to sound ignorant, maybe just uneducated. Well if they’re still around they can’t be that dumb.I think guineas are just dumb.![]()
Fine. Dense. I think guineas are dense.Well if they’re still around they can’t be that dumb.
That's pretty cool, and thank you. I'll stop by your thread later on (working on a coop/tractor at the moment). I love being educated by others, especially in regards to other cultures. The culture I was born into is very narrow-minded, very bigoted, and in my opinion downright ignorant. Anything I can do to further separate myself from it, I'm all for.I wouldn’t mind explaining at all.
