You got them right, if you look at the eyes of the BR they do not have a white band around them the Marans do. also the Marans have a longer looking face, what gets me puzzeld is I thought Marans had feathered feet?
Cuckoo marans don't have feathered feet because they aren't "true" marans~French Marans have feathered feet and are crossed with Barred Rocks and WaaaLa: you have the "Cuckoo" Maran.
They're legs can be black or yellow because of the cross, French marans have yellow legs.
I used to breed French Marans and had 1 Cuckoo...there IS a difference and it's not just feathered feet

Thanks!
I have promised my Barred Rocks to someone already, and at the time i still thought i had 3. Now that i know i only have two, i offered her 1 Cuckoo Maran. So she's taking one CM, and i've decided to keep the other 2 myself.
My 2 Dominiques are also promised. Also my extra Salmon Faverolles.
So the only chicks i still have available now are a cute black Silkie (about 3 months, thought to be a hen), and a nice NH red/silkie cross (thought to be a roo, also 3 mos).
Beyond that, i am bringing perennial plants and herbs to the swap, and maybe a few odd yardsale sort of items.

How interesting. I know very little about the genetics. I just like the fact that CM's lay the chocolate colored eggs!
