Our hens have been laying for almost 2 months now and with the exception of finding a couple in the beginning out in run everyone seems to be using the nesting boxes until the last few days. We keep finding one in the same spot to the side of roost each morning. It is there before we let them out so not sure who is doing it. Is there a way to stop this or should we not worry about it. I don't like it since it gets poo on it

You could have a hen that is laying in her sleep. How high are your roosts? If the flooring is soft, and your eggs have good thick shells, they won't crack when dropped from a short distance. I have read that it takes a hen about 25 hours to form an egg and that makes sense because of the times of day the my hens will seem to lay. Give it a week or so and see if she doesn't start laying in the boxes again (once the urge to lay starts coming in the daylight again.)

Just my 2 cents
