keep my ducks safe

Duckydoolittle, do you want some advice on how to build a predator pen, or are you not going that route? Also, all ducks LOVE dried meal worms! You can use them to lure the ducks into the house at night.

@Finny, I'm curious. I was thinking about doing a dirt floor, but I was wondering if that would let raccoons in.

For the porch attached to the first duck house, I put half inch metal hardware cloth top, bottom and sides. For the Day Pen, I put down coated chain link fence across the bottom of the pen and secured it between two 1 x 6 inch boards around the perimeter of the pen.

I also have fence across the top of the pen. It is only about a meter high, and there are foxes in the area.

Half inch metal hardware cloth, well-secured, is very helpful.

It is recommended to put two or three feet tall m.h.c. along the bottom of their pen fencing, if they are in the pen at night, to prevent raccoons from reaching in and pulling them out piece by piece through the fence.

Awful, but this happens. Even a one inch gap can let some predators reach through.

Well, we won't have gaps. It will be hardware cloth at the bottom and completely secured otherwise (wood)
