We just moved and have a new little chicken tractor with a small pen (larger pen in the works). At my old house, I had a kids picnic table over the top of my metal feeder that was placed against the outside of the coop wall. (this worked great by the way) Little house has no such option or space.

So, how do you keep the rain/morning dew out of feeder? I've had chickens for years but either fed them inside the coop or under the little table. This tiny coop thing is all new to me and I'm having a hard time figuring it out.

Thanks for the help!

I bring the feed into the garage each night. That helps with the dew and also discourages rats. Can you put a plastic tarp on the top of the run to keep rain out? That is what we do.

But here ya go

Nice! I’ve seen smaller/similar things with buckets and wondered how they did in wet weather. I like this idea!
I think the key is that the sloped sides of the trashcan help keep rain out of the ports, and the trashcan lid is a bit of overhang as well.

On rare occasion snow will blow in the openings and has to be scooped out.
