Can you please give me some advice. I have built a walled area 4ft high to keep 4 chickens (Hubbard Isa Brown x2, 1 bluebell and 1 speckled hen) confined to that area. This hasn't been very successful and they happily fly up and over! need something that isn't to unsightly to prevent them doing this, any advice would be appreiciated!

If they are "resting" on top of your wall before they go over, you can attach some wire to the top of the wall, so they don't have any place to perch before they leave. Even if they're not pausing on the top of the wall, you could add some 2x4 wire to make a taller barrier. Also, you could consider clipping one wing.

Use some light chicken wire over the top, or clip the birds wings if they are not show birds. Its easy, you can watch videos on how to do it on youtube, as well, it painless and you dont really ever notice it.

Clipping the wings is an option, there is a poultry net out as well.. reminds me of the netting on a fish net.. My chickens are fully enclosed those little suckers can fly up pretty high not to mention they will flutter up and climb on the fencing too lol

Thanks all for your advice.. I clipped their wings yesterday and seemed to do the trick but they still have a go and manage to just about get on top of the wall! I have seen the netting I might try that if they keep doing it however they don't seem as bothered as before. I think it might be because I put some things of interest in the pen so they don't feel the need to go exploring anymore! Things such as soil, grass, sand and boxes all things to keep them interested. any other ideas for things to put into a smallish run to keep the girls happy?!
