2 50# bags fit in the 31 gallon can easily. Awesome!

I use the metal cans too. Leave the feed in the bags, and two will fit in the big can. I have the metal cans on rubber mats in the coop, and an extra feed bag or two in the can under the full bags, to prevent any moisture from underneath affecting the can or feed.
The can lids aren't water tight, so have them under a roof at least.
